STOP TRAFFIC CONFERENCE – Feb 2010

Stop Traffic is hosting a conference on Human Trafficking on February 27, 2010. The conference will be held at Memorial Union on the University of Missouri campus in Columbia, Missouri. Confirmed speakers for this event include:               

  • Keynote Speaker: Mimi Chakarova, photojournalist who has documented the world of women who have  been sex trafficked in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. Ms. Chakarova’s work can be seen at The Price of Sex website http://www.priceofsex.org/      
  • Dr. Mark Rodgers, Dean and Professor at the Graduate School of Social Work, Dominican University, Chicago, Illinois.  Dr. Rodgers is an expert on international and domestic human trafficking and commercial sexual exploitation of children.  http://www.dom.edu/events-news/newsroom/press_Releases/2006-06/article_0004.html
  • A panel of law enforcement officials working on human trafficking in Missouri.
  • A trauma therapist discussing effective work with victims of trauma.
  • Local merchants to discuss fair trade practices, and the links between human trafficking and the global economic system.

High School and University Students can register for free. For members of the public, faculty, and staff, registration is $25.00. Your registration fee covers all the days events, plus three meals!
